The short version

What we collect

Server logs

This site runs on Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes standard request data — IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp — to serve pages and to protect the site from abuse. This is necessary for the site to function and to stay online. SeeCloudflare's privacy policy.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, and only after you accept via the consent banner. IP anonymisation is on; Google Signals and ad personalisation are off. If you decline, or ignore the banner, no analytics script is loaded at all. You can change your mind at any time from the cookie settings link in the footer.

Cookies and local storage

We store one item in your browser's local storage: your answer to the consent question, so we do not ask again on every page. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. See the cookie policy.

Vessel data and personal information

The AIS data on this site describes vessels, not people. It is broadcast in the clear over public VHF radio, is republished by government agencies under open licences, and identifies ships by MMSI, IMO number, name and call sign.

We recognise that on small craft the boundary between "vessel data" and "personal data" can blur. We do not add owner names, registration lookups, photographs, or any other identifying layer on top of the feed, and we do not build profiles of individuals. If you believe a specific record here identifies you and should not, write tocontact@marineactivity.comand we will look at it. Note that we cannot stop the underlying transmission or the upstream feed — that has to go to the vessel's operator or the feed provider — but we can address how it appears here.

Third parties

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal data we hold about you. In practice we hold very little: no accounts, no mailing list, no profiles. Contactcontact@marineactivity.comwith any request and we will respond.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above. Continued use after a change means the updated policy applies.
